Donavia acquired its first Airbus А319

Donavia acquired its first Airbus A319, which arrived at the airport of Rostov-on-Don, the airline’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

«Deputy Minister of Transport of Rostov Region, Lebedev E.N., head of the local administration of Rostov-on-Don’s May district, Shumeev V.G., top-management of Rostov-on-Don airport and Donavia along with numerous employees of the airline and journalists welcomed the aircraft. The solemn welcome ceremony popular in the foreign airports was organized at Rostov-on-Don airport for the first time – a spectacular water arc was created above the jet during taxiing», - said in the statement of the carrier’s press-service.

The interim CEO of Donavia, V.M. Khizhnyak, presented flowers to the crew of arrived Airbus А319. According to the existing tradition, the jet was blessed by Protoiereus Andrey Mekushkin and icon of the Archangel Michael was presented to the crew.

Airbus А319 has two-class cabin configuration – business class (12 seats) and economy class (120 seats); its range is 5500 km.

«Airbus aircraft are one of the most popular state-of-the-art jets operated by different airlines. They have proven their reliability, efficiency and high level of comfort. That is why Donavia has chosen these aircraft in order to satisfy the requirements of our passengers in the area of comfort and flight safety», - Donavia noted.

The first two jets (the second one will join the carrier’s fleet on July 6th 2012) will be performing flights from Mineralnie Vodi airport to Moscow, Yerevan and Tashkent along with Stavropol – Moscow route.

«These new jets will help Donavia increase the passenger traffic and improve the quality of services offered by the airline. More Airbus aircraft will be purchased in the nearest future by the carrier. They will be operated on different routes in cities of Russia, CIS Region and other foreign countries», - the airline noted.
