Russia comes in second by the volume of arms export

Russia, the world’s second larger exporter of arms, is always following the requirements of international law and keeping to the pledges while carrying out military-technical cooperation, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the President of Russia, Vladimir Putin.

"Russia comes in second by the volume of arms export", - Putin stated with reference to Stockholm International Peace Research Institute, noting that Russia’s share in the world export of arms is 24%. USA has 30% of the arms export, Germany – 9% and France – 8%.

"The arms market is the most complicated one since the competition is very tough there, thus the success of Russia becomes even more significant", - the president added during the meeting of Commission on Military-Technical Cooperation.

According to him, at present our military hardware and weapon systems are being acquired by 55 countries. "Among them are India, Algeria, China, Vietnam, Venezuela and USA. Altogether, Russia is carrying out military-technical cooperation with more than 80 countries", - Putin noted.

He believes that it is a very important indication of industrial, technological, scientific and foreign policy capabilities of the country.

"Russia has a time proven reputation of the first-class manufacturer of the most complex hi-tech military hardware. We are always keeping to the pledges and following the requirements of international law, non-proliferation regimes and arms control", - Putin underlined.

He also noted that it is the efficient instrument of promotion of national interests (political and economic ones) in the network of military-technical cooperation.

"It provides the increasing demand for products of our military-industrial sector and related civil industries, significant financial receipts to the federal budget and new jobs", - the president stated.
