The prime-minister, Dmitry Medvedev, proposed to consider the possibility of removal of duties on imported aircraft with a capacity fewer than 72 seats until Russia will launch its own production of such vehicles, RIA Novosti reports.
During the meeting of the state commission for social and economic development of Far East, Buryatia, Zabaikalye Territory and Irkutsk Region "On additional measures for provision of transport links in hard-to-reach territories of Far East and Siberia" Medvedev noted that demand for such aircraft, taking into account maturing and removal from service of major part of aircraft with such capacity, is rather high, while Russia’s production capacities are rather limited.
"That is why I want Ministry of Economic Development, Ministry of Industry and Trade and other interested agencies to analyze this situation – maybe we should consider the possibility of removal of duties on a limited quantity of imported aircraft with a capacity fewer than 72 seats for a limited period of time – until we will be able to launch our own production of such vehicles", - the prime-minister said.
