Rosoboronexport and the companies forming part of Finmeccanica group: SELEX Elsag, SELEX Galileo and WASS have signed three cooperation agreements at Farnborough International Airshow on development or upgrading of a patrol aircraft derived from Russian aircraft equipped with communication, navigation and identification systems delivered by SELEX Elsag, ATOS system integrated by SELEX Galileo and weapon system, which includes light torpedoes made by WASS, press-service of Rosoboronexport reports. The agreements were signed by A.A. Mikheev (Deputy Director General of Rosoboronexport), Fabrizio Giulianini (CEO of SELEX Galileo), Paolo Piccini (CEO of SELEX Elsag) and Renzo Lunardi (CEO of WASS).
А.А. Mikheev said that «separately Rosoboronexport and Finmeccanica companies are key players at the market, while the combination of the equipment delivered by the companies and its quality will surely make them leaders at the patrol aircraft market».

The new upgraded patrol aircraft will be offered to third countries. The aircraft will be able to carry out a wide range of missions including surveillance and border control (including the sea ones), regional navigation control, patrol work against smugglers, drug traffic and undocumented immigration, inspection of exclusive economic zones and oil derricks, search-and-rescue operations, environmental monitoring and detection of pollutions.
Militarized modifications may also be developed for enforcement of law, anti-piracy campaigns and anti-submarine missions.
The aircraft type and configuration of its equipment must provide the high level of the aircraft’s cost-effectiveness and at the same time the vehicle must meet the operator’s operational requirements.
