The production of next-generation polymer composites intended for different industries will be started in Ulyanovsk Region. The cooperation agreement was signed by regional government and All-Russian Scientific Research Institute of Aviation Materials (VIAM). The document was signed by the Governor of the region, Sergey Morozov, and CEO of VIAM, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Evgeny Kablov, press-service of the Ulyanovsk Region’s government reports. «The agreement was signed in the network of the Governor’s visit to several enterprises of the aircraft industry – Aviastar-SP, Aerocomposite-Ulyanovsk and Ulyanovsk branch of VIAM», - the press-service noted.
Sergey Morozov underlined that the document will allow using the new capabilities for development of aviation cluster established in the region and open prospects in the area of aircraft industry. «Such cooperation assumes not only production of polymer composites, but also creation of Training and Educational Centers. In other words Ulyanovsk students and post-graduate students will have a unique opportunity to work with top-ranked specialists gaining experience and making good money, - the Governor said. – Thus the personnel-related problems of the aircraft industry’s enterprises may be solved. That is why our cooperation will not only influence the work of the enterprise but also will commit to the economical growth of the region».
As reported by the specialists, cooperation in the network of the signed agreement will be carried out in the area of development and production assimilation of the next-generation polymer composites intended for different industries, building, agriculture and housing and utilities sector. In addition, the parties will cooperate in the network of development of technologies and serial production assimilation of the components made of composites with different purposes (aviation, rail and motor transport).
CEO of VIAM, Academician of the Russian Academy of Sciences (RAS), Evgeny Kablov, highly appreciated the capabilities for implementation of the agreement with the government of Ulyanovsk Region and told that VIAM is currently developing the production facilities of its Ulyanovsk branch. The total investments were 125 million rubles over the last 3 years. «In the network of cooperation with United Aircraft Corporation (UAC) we have a chance to implement our solutions. The joint research program has already been signed by VIAM and Aerocomposite. The work of UAC, your region and top-management of Aviastar makes a figure. We will have to solve a lot of questions together. But that is what we are studying for – we want to help develop such complicated engineering systems as an aircraft», - Evgeny Kablov noted.
Governor Sergey Morozov also discussed the clauses of the agreement with the management of Aviastar-SP and visited the final assembly production. As noted by the CEO of the enterprise, Sergey Dementyev, the development of VIAM’s scientific fields is inseparably associated with the requirements of An-124-100, Tu-204 and its modifications production by Aviastar-SP. He also told about the status of production of the Il-76MD-90A prototype intended for flight testing.
«I remind you that the testing of all the aircraft systems will be started on June 5th by the multiple-skill crew headed by the Chief designer of “Il”. After that the vehicle will be moved to the flight-test center to perform preparation for its maiden flight. The liner will be demonstrated to the guests and participants of IATF-2012», - Sergey Dementyev explained.
In addition, in the network of his visit, the Governor inspected the workshop of Aerocomposite-Ulyanovsk (currently under construction) intended for production of composites.
