VEB-Leasing is the organizer of the project for financing the acquisition of these jets.
Transaero is the launch customer of A380 aircraft in Russia, CIS and Eastern Europe. The airline intends to operate the jets on routes with the highest passenger traffic; the vehicles will be performing flights from Moscow. These liners will have a three-class cabin configuration with 700 seats. The engine selection will performed later.
CEO of Transaero, Olga Pleshakova, said: «Our company is true to the innovative traditions and it will be the first one in Russia to offer this world’s largest aircraft to its passengers. The operation of such jet will contribute to development of the whole Russia’s air transport, especially its ground infrastructure. At the same time, Transaero’s passengers will have a chance to appreciate a brand new level of services at the long-haul routes».
“We are glad to welcome Transaero as the new customer of А380”, - Chris Buckley, Airbus’ Executive Vice-President, Europe, Asia and Pacific Region, noted. “We are confident that this world’s most efficient liner will allow the airline to meet the requirements of growing Russian air transportation market and provide its passengers with the unmatched comfort”.
Airbus A380 sets new standards in the area of civil aviation. Being the largest, most spacious and quiet world’s jet, it is also the most efficient one with the lowest fuel rate per seat in its segment. The airlines note that this jet is very popular among the passengers thus the passenger load factor increases. That is why A380 gives the carriers a significant competitive edge.
As of today, Airbus has delivered 77 А380s to eight airlines. 257 А380 were ordered by 20 customers (including Transaero). Over 23 million passengers have already travelled onboard of A380 aircraft. One A380 performs takeoff or landing in different countries of the world every 8 minutes.
