Rostvertol will demonstrate the modernized Mi-26T2 heavy transport helicopter to Algerian air forces. The demonstration is scheduled for the period from July 5th to July 16th and it will take place at one of the bases of Algerian air forces, ARMS-TASS reports. It was declared by a representative of military industrial sector.
According to the source, the helicopter will perform flight from Rostov-on-Don to Algeria in early July.
Mi-26Т2 helicopter has new “glass cockpit”, avionics and navigation system. The cockpit’s lighting facilities are adapted for using night vision goggles.
Following the results of the demonstration, the command of Algerian air forces will take a decision regarding purchasing a batch of Мi-26Т2s.
At present Algeria does not have any heavy transport Mi-26T helicopters; it operates Мi-6 (2 helicopters), Мi-4s (4 ones), Мi-2s (28), Мi-8s (47), Мi-171s (42) and Ка-32s (5).
