Russian Knights and Strizhi will demonstrate their skills on June 2nd in St. Petersburg

Russian Knights and Strizhi aerobatic teams will demonstrate their skills to the citizens and guests of St. Petersburg on June 2nd during aviation festival held at Pushkin military airfield, press-service of Western Military District (WMD) reports with reference to the Commander of WMD, Major General, Igor Makushev. The festive events dedicated to the 70th anniversary of WMD Air-force Command will be taking place on June 2nd since 10-00 at Pushkin airfield.

"More than 20 advanced aircraft and helicopters of WMD Command arrived at Pushkin airfield on May 28th in order to participate in the festival. These are Su-34, Su-24, Su-27, MiG-25, MiG-29SMT, MiG-31, An-12, An-26, An-30, An-72, Мi-8MTV5, Мi-24. The festival’s guests will have access to all of the vehicles. On this day every guest will have an opportunity to see the unique historical aircraft and the most advanced combat vehicles operated by the Russian air forces", - WMD noted.

The military pilots from WMD’s air bases located in Karelia, Voronezh, Kursk, Kaliningrad, Vladimir, Smolensk Region, Tver Region and Murmansk Region will take part in the show. "Every member of the crew of all the aircraft and helicopters is the first-class military pilot with several thousand hours of flight experience. The first-class pilot is able to pilot the aircraft in any lighting and weather conditions and perform instrumental landing. All the first-class pilots of WMD are experienced in performing flights with tactical employment of aviation weapons at military firing grounds from Kaliningrad to Vladivostok and from Novaya Zemlya to Astrakhan ", - the press-service noted.

The festival will be held at historical airfield in Pushkin (this name has not been changed since its establishment in 1911). By the way, the first airshow in the history of Russia – Tsarskoselskaya aviatsionnaya nedelya (aviation week), has taken place in Pushkin in 1911.
