The most recent opinion poll revealed that Russians are more afraid of fixed-route taxi-vans than the jets

The most recent opinion poll, carried out by Russian Public Opinion Research Center (or WCIOM) in March-April 2012 in the network of integrated program for transport safety provision, revealed that Russians believe that the fixed-route taxi-van is more dangerous than the jet. The safest transport in the eyes of respondents is a long-distance train (58%), RBC reports.

The second safest transport is street railway (53%), third – commuter train (52%), then subway (48%), trolley bus (46%), bus (38%), suburban and intercity bus (33%), jet (26%), river and sea transport (19%) and finally fixed-route taxi-van (16%).

Russians believe that the most heavily-protected from terroristic threat objects of transport infrastructure are: airports (66%), railway stations (61%) and subway (58%).

Respondents believe that the most qualified drivers are working on trains (81%), suburban and international buses (80%) and subway (78%). The drivers of fixed-route taxi-vans are believed to be less qualified (only 42%).

The opinion poll was being carried out by Russian Public Opinion Research Center (or WCIOM) in March-April 2012. 1600 respondents from 138 localities in 46 regions of Russia have taken part in the survey. In addition, 27 thousand people were involved in the regional surveys in Kazan, Vladivostok, Sochi, Krasnodar, Voronezh, Makhachkala, Nalchik, Stavropol, Mineralniye Vodi, Cherkessk, Grozny and Vladikavkaz. We remind you that the integrated program for transport safety provision is intended for the period until 2013; its total scope of finance for 2010-2013 is over 46 billion rubles.
