Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School and Oxford Aviation Academy intend to establish a training center in Ulyanovsk intended for training of pilots for Boeing 737 and Airbus А320 aircraft with international licenses, Kommersant – Samara reports.

The principal of Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School, Sergey Krasnov, and CEO of Oxford Aviation Academy, Brian Simpson, have signed the Memorandum of Understanding on establishing the joint training center for training of pilots, instructors, maintenance and teaching personnel for advanced aircraft. The Memorandum was signed in London last Wednesday.

According to the document, the parties intend to codevelop ATPL/MPL training courses (Airline Transport Pilot License/ Multi-Crew Pilot Licence Aeroplane), meeting the requirements of Russian and international authorities, MCC/JOC courses (Multi Crew Cooperation/Jet Operations Course), the courses for retraining of maintenance personnel of the following categories: A, B1, B2, (PART147) and the courses of English language carried out in accordance with ICAO standards.

As explained by the vice principal on investments and innovation activities of Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School, Alexey Olenev, this refers to training of crews and maintenance personnel for Boeing 737CL and Airbus А320 aircraft. The partnership is based upon parity basis within the framework of future autonomous nonprofit organization, which will be established by Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School and Oxford Aviation Academy.

It is assumed that British party will deliver an advanced simulator for Boeing 737 to the training center. And simulator for А320 will be acquired by the Ulyanovsk Higher Civil Aviation School in the network of the state target program. A supplementary confidentiality agreement is attached to the Memorandum, thus the financial details of the document have not been unveiled. Nevertheless, it is known that center would be able to provide more than 4000 hours of training on its simulators per year. Olenev did not specify the estimated value of training, but he noted that the price would be “competitive”. The airlines from Russia and CIS Region will be the main customers of the training center.
