– We are glad to announce that Boeing 787 owned by Japan Airlines has performed the first flight from Tokyo to Moscow on May 7th. It is the first aircraft of this type, which will be performing regular flights to Russia. We thank the employees of Moscow Domodedovo airport and all our partners for their support, – said the member of JAL’s Board of Directors, Yonedzava Akira. – I hope that the new liner’s entry into service will contribute to the further development of economic and cultural relations between our countries and more tourists would be able to visit Russia and Japan.
– The flights on one of the world’s most comfortable jets, which are possible only in one Russian airport – Domodedovo, perfectly match our basic concept – passenger care and progressive improvement of service quality, – the Director of Moscow Domodedovo airport, Igor Borisov, said. – We are confident that more passengers will use the services of Domodedovo airport and Japan Airlines after the start of Boeing 787’s flights.
After the solemn ceremony over 60 representatives of Russian and foreign mass media were invited to take part in the second part of this event: acquaintance with Boeing 787 at the apron. “Baptism” of the new aircraft was the high point of the event: waterbridge was made by two fire trucks above the taxiing jet. This moment of history was captured by numerous cameras: aviation spotting with the participation of 90 professional and amateur photographers and bloggers was organized in honor of the start of commercial operation.
Boeing 787, one of the most long-awaited and advanced civil aircraft, has started performing regular flights to Russia only six months after its entry into service. At present Dreamliners are operated only by two airlines in the world and one of them is serviced in Domodedovo airport.
JAL is performing flights from Tokyo to Moscow (Domodedovo) on Boeing 787 since May 7th 2012 (the flights are performed on Monday, Thursday and Saturday).
