Strizhi aerobatic team has turned 21 years. Russian Knights team has taken part in the celebration and participated in joint demonstration flights in Kubinka, RIA Novosti reports.
"At first we intended to demonstrate this program in Astana. But in the end we did not get there and so spectators will see it in Zhukovsky in August. We have renewed links between maneuvers, recoveries from the maneuvers have become more dynamic ", - the head of 237th Center for display of aviation equipment, Vasily Ponomarev, told the journalists.
Russian Knights and Strizhi have traditionally demonstrated formation and solo pilotage on Su-27 and MiG-29 fighters. The audience has seen the famous Kubinka Diamond – formation in the form of diamond formed by five Su-27s and four MiG-29s.
"Strizhi are located inside the “diamond” and the distinctive feature of this formation is that we cannot move to the left or to the right by more than 50 cm, otherwise the formation would fall apart", - Commander of Strizhi aerobatic team, Valery Morozov, explained.
"Strizhi team is operating from Kubinka airfield located 60 km from Moscow. The pilots from Kubinka were the first ones to perform formation and solo pilotage using jet fighters. Strizhi have celebrated the 20th anniversary of their flight program in early May 2011. During the team’s lifetime it has visited Finland, France, Germany, Sweden, Belgium, Italy and Malaysia.
