Russian Aviaton » Thursday April 5, 2012 20:12 MSK

The presence of NATO military or civil personnel in Ulyanovsk, where the transit station for transportation of alliance’s cargo will be deployed, is impossible. It has been stated by the head of Russian Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Sergey Lavrov, Lenta.ru reports.

According to Lavrov, the transit station will be operating under full customs control of Russia and all the operations will be performed by Russian companies and customs officers.

The minister has also said that if the Russian government approves the creation of transit station in Ulyanovsk, only the civil objects would be used for the transit.

It has been reported in March that Russia and NATO have reached an agreement in principal on creation of transit station for alliance’s cargo in the territory of Russia. The mass media have reported with reference to reliable sources that Vladimir Putin is preparing the corresponding instruction.
