Russia has asked out to hand over the intellectual property rights on engine for An-70 aircraft in the network of negotiations on creation of the joint-venture intended for production of the engines, Kommersant-Ukraine reports.
At that the Russian party is ready to make concessions — the final assembly of the engines may be carried out by Motor Sich’s plant in Zaporozhye. At present the Ministry of Defense is the main customer for An-70 and Ukraine will have to agree with this proposal.
"Ivchenko-Progress" and Salut (Russia) have come to agreement on creation of the joint-venture, which will be producing the engines, the representative of Salut’s press-service said. According to him, the CEO of Salut, Vladislav Masalov, and Chief Designer of Ivchenko-Progress, Igor Kravchenko, has discussed the possibilities for cooperation yesterday at Engines-2012 show in Moscow. The signing of the corresponding agreement is scheduled for May, Salut noted.
Vladislav Masalov said that the Russian party is ready to settle for “the final assembly of the engines in Ukraine” by Motor Sich if the intellectual property rights on the engine will be transferred to the joint-venture. "Per-unit cooperation may also be revised", — Masalov said. D-27 is intended for high-efficient passenger and transport aircraft with improved takeoff and landing performance: Аn-180, Аn-70, Аn-70Т, Be-42.
Officially there are no barriers for creation of the joint-venture, but the decision on its creation and transfer of intellectual property rights is in the Ukrainian government’s sphere, Igor Kravchenko said. "We are really discussing this problem and we can solve it if the transfer of rights will be considered profitable for both enterprises", — Kravchenko noted. According to him, the parties may protocol their intentions in May on the corresponding interstate meeting. The Chairman of the Board of Motor Sich, Vyacheslav Boguslaev, noted he knows about the negotiations but “at present the possible transfer of rights is not considered”.
