The managing director of NPO Saturn, Ilya Fedorov, said: «The presentation of Production Organisation Agreement (POA) is a truly historic event. After passing a series of EASA audits and acquiring the certificate, NPO Saturn has confirmed its ability to organize work on production of advanced and reliable engines for European market, organize supervised production on other Russian and foreign enterprises and independently select the suppliers in the network of SaM146 program. NPO Saturn is the first Russian company to acquire EASA Production Organisation Approval Certificate for civil engine. This fact puts us in one line with world’s leading manufacturers of gas-turbine engines».
The Quality Assurance Director of NPO Saturn, Sergey Antropov, said: «The EU authorities have confirmed that Saturn’s quality assurance system meets all the requirements of international standards, and that is impressive. We were able to create a unique production and provide the meeting of all Russian and international requirements. It is a unique result for Russia. The acquisition of EASA Production Organisation Approval Certificate enjoins us to meet all the requirements of EASA Quality Assurance System. It is a great challenge taking into account the increasing output. But I am sure that our team will accomplish this task».
The Operations Director of NPO Saturn, Viktor Polyakov stated: «We are paying a very close attention to SaM146 engine, because it is the only product, which allows us to integrate into the European community. We need enough people with a different mentality in order to make this program work and produce engines. At present we plan to increase the output significantly in accordance with Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCA) needs: 48 engines in 2012, 96 ones - in 2013. We will keep on investing in further production development and personnel training».
Director of SaM146 program, Mikhail Berdennikov, noted: «We shall produce more SaM146 than new D-30КP engines. SaM146 is becoming “serial”. At present 8 SSJ100 are being operated. The reliability indicator of SaM146 is very high -- 99,96% and in this regard it repeats the success of CFM-56. The growing number of Superjets demands the expansion of maintenance production and post-sales support. We have already been certified by AR IAC and Federal Agency of Air Transport for performance of MRO on SaM146, and we plan to acquire EASA certificate for repair of SaM146 engines by the end of 2012».
