The Military-Industrial Commission affiliated to the Russian government and chaired by the vice-premier, Dmitry Rogozin, has taken the decision to renew the fleet of military-transport aircraft, RIA Novosti reports.
The creation of system for covering the situation in Arctic Region and military-transport aircraft systems have been considered during meeting of the governmental commission, which has taken place on Wednesday.
"Taking into account the importance of military-transport aviation, the set of measures for renewal of the military-transport aircraft fleet and further development of the enterprises of the aircraft industry has been specified in the ruling of Military-Industrial Commission", - the government reported.
The participants of the meeting have also listened to the reports on creation of the system for covering the situation in Arctic Region.
"The Military-Industrial Commission has approved the draft concept of the system for covering the situation in Arctic Region and instructed the developers to finalize the document taking into account the remarks and proposals of the meeting’s participants", - said in the statement.
The system for covering the situation in Arctic Region is intended for effective and safe usage of maritime, air and cosmic space, solving a number of problems in the area of further reclamation and social-economic development of Thule regions, support of national defense and state security.
It is being created on the basis of integration between the existing and advanced ground, maritime, air and space facilities intended for covering the situation space and centers for analysis and distribution of information with different departmental affiliation.
