Transaero has signed a firm contract on delivery of four Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft

Boeing and Transaero (Russia) have signed the firm contract on delivery of four 787-8 Dreamliner aircraft. The contract’s value is assessed at $774 million at list prices, the airline’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

The signing ceremony has taken place on board of 787 aircraft during its flight demonstration. «Transaero became the first Russian operator of Boeing aircraft in 1993. Our choice of the most advanced and high-efficient Boeing 787 Dreamliner aircraft confirms that Transaero keeps on using innovative products and increases the quality of its products. It is symbolic that our company was the first one to sign a contract during flight on board of the aircraft. Boeing 787 aircraft will be performing flights on Transaero’s domestic and international routes» - said Alexander Pleshakov, Chairman of the Board of Transaero.

The commander of Transaero’s Boeing 767/777 division, the honored pilot of Russia, Evgeny Nikitin, was piloting the Boeing 787 during the flight demonstration, the company noted.

«Boeing 787 Dreamliner is largely made of composites and it is the first medium aircraft capable of performing the long-haul flights. Dreamliner will allow the airlines to open new non-stop destinations. Thanks to advanced technologies the aircraft provides unmatched operating and fuel efficiency and the new level of comfort for the passengers. 59 airlines are awaiting the deliveries of more than 850 787 Dreamliners, confirming its great performance», - Transaero noted.

Russia has played an important role in creation of this unique aircraft. The scientists of Boeing Moscow Design Center have taken part in the development of some 787’s key sections. The Russian VSMPO-AVISMA enterprise provides deliveries of titan parts for 787 Dreamliner.

ZA003 aircraft, which is performing the world tour, has initially been operated in the network of flight testing and it was upgraded for demonstrating some advantages and parameters of 787 Dreamliner, including the jet’s interior.
