ARR Corporation will create an aircraft maintenance center in Ulyanovsk

ARR Corporation, America’s largest provider of aircraft maintenance services, which is servicing American Airlines, will create its maintenance center in Ulyanovsk. Mukharbek Aushev from TurPartners will become the financial partner of the American company, RBC Daily reports.

ARR Corporation has been negotiating with shareholders of Vnukovo aircraft repair plant 400 earlier on creation of a joint-venture for maintenance of foreign aircraft on the plant’s basis, but the negotiations have failed.

As reported by president of ARR Corporation, David Storch, at first the company will create a spare parts pool in Ulyanovsk and then it will create the maintenance center. «It is possible to use facilitated registration in Ulyanovsk. It will be the first step aimed at acquainting the Russian market with our activities», — David Storch noted. The company plans to use an area of 10 000 square meters for construction of the maintenance center. The value of this project is estimated at over $20 million.

It was expected that the American company will choose Vnukovo aircraft repair plant (VARP) as its partner. As reported by the First Deputy Director General of Vnukovo airport, Vitaly Vantsev, in mid-2011, the airport has been negotiating with ARR on creation of the joint-venture, but at present no negotiations with Vnukovo (the shareholder of VARP-400) have been held, David Storch noted. «We have met in America and Moscow, but we have no agreements with the airport. Now ARR does not want to connect its activity with a single player. However, the aircraft maintenance market in Moscow is attractive for us», — he said.

Aeroflot and Russian Technologies have later spoken about the possibility of organization of foreign aircraft maintenance at VARP - 400. However, Vitaly Vantsev said in February 2012 that he intends to develop this business in partnership with UTair, Transaero and Volga-Dnepr Technics.

The TurPartners – Mukharbek Aushev’s private fund will become the co-investor of this ARR’s Ulyanovsk project. He said that the American companies are uptight about independent entry into Russian market and financing the large projects here. «Many American companies will watch out for work of ARR in Russia and then they will consider their entry into the market», — Aushev noted.
