The “Gas-turbine engineering research and production center “Salut” will deliver a batch of AI-222-25 engines for Yak-130 aircraft to Irkut Corporation

FSUE “Gas-turbine engineering research and production center “Salut” will deliver a batch of AI-222-25 engines for Yak-130 operational trainers to Irkut Corporation. The jets are intended for Russian air forces, the press-service of Salut reports. AEX.ru

The corresponding contract has been signed on February 14th 2012 by the president of Irkut Corporation, Alexey Fedorov, and CEO of Salut, Vladislav Masalov.

The deliveries of AI-222-25 engines will provide the construction of 55 Yak-130s in accordance with the contract signed by Russian Ministry of Defense and Irkut Corporation in December 2011. «The contract, signed in the network of State defense order, is the top-priority one for us in the context of delivery dates and quality of our products», - said Vladislav Masalov. «It is the first long-term contract and it is intended for three years. This will allow us to perform it in time», - the CEO of Salut noted.

President of Irkut Corporation, Alexey Fedorov, noted that the share of State defense order in the enterprise’s production program is increasing. «We have also started the export deliveries of Yak-130s and we see the future prospects for this jet at the global market. Simultaneously Irkut is carrying out work on improving the combat capabilities of Yak-130», - Alexey Fedorov noted.
