Radar-MMS research and production enterprise will complete the research and development work and start deliveries of new unmanned helicopters with weight of 50 kg this year, Vzglyad reports. It has been reported by a source in the military-industrial complex.
«The enterprise is ready to start the deliveries of the systems with 50-kg unmanned helicopters in 2012», - said the source.
He noted that Radar-MMS has developed a product line of unmanned helicopters with gross lift-off weight from 10 to 500 kg.
«At present the top-priority area is construction of 50-kg unmanned helicopter. The helicopters with lower payload are not so popular», - the source said.
He noted that UAV with weight of 50 kg has been developed by Radar-MMS two years ago, but “the UAV is constantly being improved”.
At the moment the enterprise is performing several research and development works on creation of 50-kg helicopters in accordance with requirements of some potential customers, the source noted.
The prototype of compact unmanned helicopter BPV-50-B has been demonstrated at the Technologies of mechanical engineering exhibition in 2010. It had the following characteristics: rotary wing diameter - 3,0 m; height - 0,9 m; length with blades folded back - 2,8 m; takeoff weight - 50 kg; payload - 15 kg; surveillance range - 15 km; maximum flight time – 2 hours; operational ceiling range - 50-1000 m; maximum flight speed - 90 km/h.
