The First Deputy Minister of Defense, Alexander Sukhorukov, declared that Russian Ministry of Defense will acquire more than 1100 helicopters by the end of 2020, Rossiyskaya Gazeta reports.
"According to the State program in the area of arms for the period until 2020, the Ministry of Defense intends to acquire 1124 combat and training helicopters. At present all the contracts have been signed", - said Sukhorukov.
The Ministry of Defense addressed the enterprises in November 2011 asking them to increase the number of delivered helicopters.
"The enterprises are able to manufacture 9 additional helicopters per year assuming there is a demand for them", - Deputy Minister of Defense noted.
Sukhorukov added that the order on Ka-226 training helicopters was 12 vehicles in 2011 and 6 ones in - 2012.
"If the enterprises are ready to deliver the necessary number of Ka-226s than we will sign an additional agreement", - he noted.
