The Aviation Registry of Interstate Aviation Committee (AR IAC) in Russian and CIS Region has issued the supplemental type certificate for Boeing 747. The Federal Air Transport Agency has already issued the license for commercial transportation using this type of aircraft. Russian supplement to the type certificate confirms that 747-8 Freighter meets the requirements of aviation standards of Russia and CIS Region, Boeing’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

AirBridgeCargo, forming part of Volga-Dnepr Group, is the launch-customer of 747-8F in Russia and Eastern Europe. AirBridgeCargo has acquired its first 747-8 Freighter on January 26th. The company will receive four more jets and it also has an option for acquisition of five more jets of this type.
Russia has made a substantial contribution to development of 747-8. Boeing Moscow Design Center has taken part in development of wing and airframe, passenger doors, landing gear, load carrying structures of the floor, cargo load/unload and cargo lashing systems, interior of passenger cabin. Russian Technologies State Corporation and its subsidiary – VSMPO-Avisma are manufacturing titan parts for 747-8F, including landing gear components, the company noted.
Boeing-747-8 Freighter is the new model of 747 aircraft with improved characteristics, which provides the lowest operational costs and the highest efficiency as compared to any other cargo aircraft. This jet is also very eco-efficient. Its length is 76,3 m (+5,6 m as compared to 747-400 Freighter). The fuselage stretch provides increased cargo capacity (+16%), thus four additional pallets may be located at the upper deck and three more – in the lower cargo compartment. Boeing 747-8 Freighter is equipped with GEnx-2B engines made by General Electrics.
