Russian Helicopters have delivered an upgraded Mi-171A2 helicopter to USA

Russian Helicopters Holding Company, forming part of Oboronprom Corporation, has presented Mi-171A2 helicopter, which is being created for global market, at HeliExpo 2012 (stand 3422), Dallas, Texas. It is the modernization of the world’s most popular Mi-8/17 helicopter – the Russian best-seller of the medium class, Russian Helicopters’ press-service reports. AEX.ru

«Russian helicopter industry has become the regular participant of HeliExpo, which is one of the world’s best shows for timely presentation of new products, - said CEO of Russian Helicopters, Dmitry Petrov. – Besides well-known in North America multi-role Ка-32А11ВС, the holding presents the new Мi-171А2 in the USA. I am confident that Мi-171А2, which offers unequalled performance, reliability and safety to our partners and potential customers, will help Russia keep the long-standing leadership in the medium helicopters segment».

It is planned to equip Мi-171А2 with high-thrust and efficient engines, which extend the range and weight-lifting ability of the helicopter. The new rotorcraft flight structure based on composite rotor blades, enhanced transmission, X-type anti-torque rotor will become the main features of the upgraded medium helicopter, the company noted.

The integrated navigation instrumentation, which implements the principle of “glass cockpit”, allows using of multi-role LCD displays instead of traditional analog instruments. These displays significantly simplify flight control and provide greater amount of information.

Russian Helicopters offer more than 100 different novelties, which will improve the Mi-171А2’s performance, its operation system and decrease the flight hour cost.

"Commercial and state operators, which were invited to take part in work on the new project for replacing the Mi-8/17s with single new helicopter, have taken part in the formation of technical specifications for the new Mi-8/17 vehicles. The deliveries of serial certified Mi-171A2 helicopters will be started in 2014. Мi-171А2 will be certified in accordance with airworthiness codes of AR IAC and similar codes for different regions and countries", - the company noted.

Мi-171А2 is being developed by Mil Moscow helicopter plant, forming part of Russian Helicipters Holding Company. The development of new helicopter is being carried out on the basis of Mi-171A1, one of the best helicopters of Mi-8/17 family by safety, manufactured by Ulan-Ude aviation plant and certified by AR IAC and NCAA Brazil.
