The export deliveries of Russian military aircraft have increased by 50% in 2011 as compared to 2010 and exceeded $4.8 billion, RIA Novosti reports with reference to Center for Analysis of Strategies and Technologies (CAST, Russia).
The sales of military jets and helicopters traditionally form the major share of arms export. According to Rosoboronexport, the sales contribution of military aircraft was 51% in 2011.
"The total value of Russian military aircraft delivered in 2011 was $4,82 billion ($3.1 billion in 2010). Traditionally the deliveries of Su-30 fighters to several countries have formed the basis", - reported by CAST.
According to CAST, 36 Sukhoi fighters have been delivered to the customers (total value - $1.69 billion). India was the main partner – 16 Su-30MKI fighters (six assembled ones and ten knock-down kits) have been acquired by this country. Eight Su-30МКIs(А) have been delivered to Algeria, eight Su-30МК2s – to Vietnam and four Su-30МК2s – to Uganda.
According to CAST, the scope of deliveries of MiG aircraft has reached the record value (for the last few years) of $800 million. This milestone has been achieved due to completion of 2004 contract ($460 million) on delivery of 16 MiG-29K fighters to India. These fighters will form the air grouping of Indian Vikramaditya carrier (ex-Russian "Admiral Gorshkov").
Another important milestone is the start of implementation of contract with Algeria on delivery of Yak-130 operational trainers. Irkut Corporation has delivered 16 jets in the end of the year with a total value of $200 million. Two Il-76MF-EI transport aircraft have been delivered to Jordan, the contract on delivery of these aircraft has been signed in 2005 (the contract price is $100 million).
According to CAST, the scope of helicopter deliveries was $1.73 billion in 2011 ($500 million in 2010). Such an increase is connected with start of implementation of large contracts on deliveries of Mi-17V-5 transport helicopters to India and Afghanistan. 21 such helicopter has been delivered to India and 9 ones – to Afghanistan.
12 more Mi-171 transport helicopters have been delivered to Iraq. The Russian Mi-8/17 helicopters have also been delivered to Azerbaijan (at least 15 ones), South Sudan, Ecuador, Argentina and Poland (2 vehicles to each country). In addition, 14 Mi-171E helicopters have been sold to the undisclosed customers through the British Exclusive Aircraft20 broker company.
Combat helicopters from Mi-24/35 Family have been delivered to Azerbaijan (4 Mi-35Ms), Brazil (six Mi-35Ms) and Peru (two Mi-35P). Four repaired Mi-35Ps have been delivered to Myanmar.
The Chinese contract on delivery of nine Ka-31 radar surveillance helicopters with a total value of $135 million has been completed in 2011.
