Russian Helicopters Holding Company, subsidiary of Oboronprom Corporation (part of Russian Technologies State Corporation) delivered two multirole Mi-8AMT helicopters built by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant to the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan in December 2012. The corresponding contract was signed in August 2012 and performed on time, press-service of Russian Helicopters reports. AEX.ru
The new helicopters acquired by the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan will be performing tasks in the area of public order maintenance. In particular they will be used for security assurance at 2013 Summer Universiade in Kazan.

The acceptance team of the Ministry’s special purpose aviation group was satisfied with the assembly quality and accompanying technical documentation. The helicopters piloted by the crews of the Ministry of Internal Affairs of Tatarstan have performed ferry flight to their base”, - the company noted.
The multirole Mi-8AMT helicopters are used for performing a wide range of missions: patrolling, fire-fighting, surveillance, search-and-rescue operations, cargo and passenger transportation (including flights to the hard-to-reach regions). The capabilities of Mi-8AMT helicopters are constantly being upgraded allowing it to perform more tasks. As of today over 12,000 helicopters of Mi-8/17 Family have been manufactured and delivered to 110 countries. These helicopters are operated in the Middle East, South and Southeast Asia, North Africa, Central Africa, Eastern Europe, South and Central America, CIS Region and the Russia’s largest commercial operators, Russian Helicopters explained.
Mi-8AMT is the upgraded version of the world-famous Mi-8. It was developed by the Mil Moscow Helicopter Plant and it is manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant (forming part of Russian Helicopters Holding Company). Mi-8AMT helicopter is able to carry up to 37 battle-equipped service personnel on special seats or up to 26 people on passenger chairs. It is also able to transport cargo with a weight of up to 4,000 kg in the cabin or using an external sling or transport up to 12 wounded men. The vehicle may also be used for performing search-and-rescue missions, fire-fighting and performing in-flight lifting, loading and unloading of cargo. Mi-8AMT has been certified in Russia. It also has type certificates in China, South Korea, Slovakia and Mongolia. At present over 500 Mi-171s (export version of Mi-8AMT) manufactured by Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant are operated in Central and Southeast Asia, Middle East, Africa, Europe, South and Central America and CIS Region.
