Russia will deliver 7 Ka-62 helicopters to Brazil

Russian Helicopters Holding Company, the subsidiary of Oboronprom Corporation (which is forming part of Russian Technologies State Corporation) has signed the contract on delivery of Ka-62 helicopters to Atlas Tаxi Aеreo (Brazil). Seven Ka-62s will be delivered to the customer during the period from the first quarter of 2015 to the first quarter of 2016. The contract also includes option for another seven helicopters of the type, press-service of Russian Helicopters reports. AEX.ru

"The document was signed in the network of visit of the president of Brazil Dilma Rousseff to Russia. It is the first contract on delivery of the new multi-role helicopter – one of the most anticipated models developed by Russian Helicopters. According to the contract, the first batch of two Ka-62s will be delivered in the first quarter of 2015. 4 more helicopters should be delivered to the customer by the end of 2015 and the rest one – in the first quarter of 2016. The contract also includes option for another 7 Ka-62s", - the company explained.

The testing of Ka-62 is scheduled for 2013 and its certification should be completed by 2015 granting the permission to operate the helicopter in foreign countries (including Brazil). According to the contract signed with Atlas Tаxi Aеreo, Russian Helicopters Holding Company will take part in establishment of the new service center in Brazil in cooperation with its regional partners. Thanks to the spacious and comfortable cabin Ka-62 is perfectly suited for corporate and passenger transportation and special operations.

Atlas Tаxi Aеreo already operates Mi-171A1 helicopters delivered in 2011. These helicopters have won the tender issued by Petrobras oil company (Brazil). The fleet of these vehicles will likely be increased in the near future, the press-service noted.

Brazilian air forces are operating Russian-made Mi-35M multi-role attack helicopters. Another batch of these vehicles was delivered to the customer in August in accordance with the contract. According to the Brazilian Ministry of Defense, Mi-35M is the state-of-the-art attack helicopter with high firepower. It may be used for escorting other helicopters, isolation of combat area and fire support of ground troops. Russian-made vehicle was the first special attack helicopter to be put into operation by the Brazilian air forces.
