The share of Russian UAVs at the global arms market may reach 5% by 2022, RIA Novosti reports with reference to the head of Rosoboronexport’s Department of Air Forces, Sergey Kornev.
"Granting the proper project management we can have 3-5% of the global market over the next ten years", — Kornev said. He noted that some competitive UAVs have already been developed in Russia — "Orlan-10", "ZALA-421-016", "Eleron-10", etc. These vehicles meet the latest requirements and outperform foreign analogues by some parameters (range, altitude, endurance), Kornev said. "Speaking about the domestic market, its demand is much higher. That is why the promising Russian market attracts foreign manufacturers", — the head of Rosoboronexport’s Department of Air Forces said.
According to him, the Asian market of UAVs is the world’s fastest-growing one. It capacity is assessed at about $14,5 billion, 35% of which are accounted for import. Europe comes in second with a market capacity of $9 billion and its own production and procurement.
LatinAmericacomesinthird— $5,7 billion. "However, these figures do not reflect the strategic outlook, because experts believe that the sixth-generation aircraft will be unmanned and the share of manned aircraft and helicopters in the fleet of the air forces of developed countries may decrease to 40%", — Kornev explained.
The intense development of UAVs on the basis of advanced digital technologies was started in 2000. The export of UAVs has been started later.
38 countries purchased UAVs to the amount of $3,57 billion during a period from 2003 to 2012.
According to the outlook by Forecast International, the global market of UAVs will continue its fast growth and it will reach the capacity of $71 billion over the next ten years.
At present the major suppliers of UAVs are USA and Israel (70% of the world export), while China will enter the top-3 in the medium term.
