VEB may open credit lines to the amount of $2.5 billion for foreign SSJ100 customers. It was stated by the prime-minister of Russia, Dmitry Medvedev, during the meeting of Supervisory Board of the state corporation, Lenta.ru reports.
According to Medvedev, the approach to such a financing structure must be targeted and individual. Premier also explained that the government must increase the number of sold SSJ100s using the opportunities gained after the Russia’s accession to the WTO.
Sukhoi Civil Aircraft (SCAC) stated in July that the major risk in the network of implementation of SSJ100 program is the absence of “well-developed, comprehensible and efficient” finance system for sales of the aircraft in Russia and foreign countries. Accounts Chamber has reported earlier that the state funding of the project of development of SSJ 100 and SaM146 engine was cut off in 2011; later mass media stated that the project may fail.
SCAC and VEB signed an agreement on financing the sales of SSJ100 liners in 2007. Among other things VEB should have been supporting the sales of SSJ100s to the Russian and foreign customers using its leasing subsidiaries, foreign banks and export agencies.
