Zaporozhye Machine-Building Design Bureau Progress State Enterprise named after Academician A.G.Ivchenko (Ivchenko-Progress) in cooperation with State Proving Flying Center of Ukrainian Armed Forces have started the state endurance testing of D-27 propfan with a power of 14 thousand hp, UNN reports with reference to the press-service of the Ministry of Defense.
The tests are being carried out in the network of testing of advanced Russia-Ukraine project of An-70 military-transport aircraft. The tests were preceded by the meeting of state commissions of Russian and Ukrainian Ministries of Defense, headed by the Director of State Scientific and Production Center, Hero of Ukraine, major general Yuri Tishkov, and the head of State Research-and-Testing division number 929 of State Proving Flying Center of the Russian air forces, Vladislav Bruskov, respectively.
The engine has already been working for 1200 hours during the preceding endurance testing and has maintained all of its parameters. It is expected that the new D-27 engine intended for the medium military-transport short takeoff and landing An-70 aircraft will be put into service next year.
