Sheremetyevo international airport has closed the books on September and the first 9 months of 2012. The number of serviced passengers has increased by 17,2% to 20 091 000 since the beginning of the year as compared to the last year’s indicators, the airport’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

The passenger traffic on international airlines has increased by 19,9% to 13 292 000 passengers during the period from January to September, as for domestic airlines – by 12.3 % to 6 799 000 passengers. The number of transported passengers has increased by 17.6% in September 2012 to 2 662 000 ones. At that the passenger traffic on international airlines has increased by 26.6% to 1 832 000 passengers, as for domestic airlines – by 2% to 829 800 passengers

“The most popular international destinations were: Antalya, Hurghada, Paris, Sharm el-Sheikh, Prague, Kiev, Beijing, Larnaka, New York, Istanbul, Rome and the federal ones were – St. Petersburg, Sochi, Krasnodar, Yekaterinburg,Vladivostok, Kaliningrad and Rostov-on-Don”, - the airport noted.

The airport has provided implementation of 172 746 takeoffs and landings during 9 months of 2012 (+9.5% as compared to 2011). The number of takeoffs and landings in September has increased by 7.3% to 20814. “The optimal infrastructure capabilities of Sheremetyevo airport, provision of high quality of services and efficient cooperation with its partner airlines allowed expanding its route network, increasing the demand among the business class passengers and increasing the passenger traffic on regular international destinations”, - Sheremetyevo stated.
Sheremetyevo intends to service over 25 million passengers in 2012 setting a new record in its history. Thus Sheremetyevo will move to the Group 1 (airports with passenger traffic of over 25 million passengers per year) of the ACI Europe classification. The airport will be among top-15 Europe’s largest airports in terms of passenger traffic, the press-service noted.
