Irkut Corporation delivers the first batch of Yak-130 combat trainers to the Russian air forces

 

Irkut Corporation (forming part of United Aircraft Corporation (UAC)) has delivered the first batch of 6 Yak-130 combat trainers to the Russian air forces, the corporation’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

The pilots of Borisoglebsk training center of the Russian air forces have performed ferry flight of the rest 3 jets from Irkutsk aviation plant (division of Irkut Corporation) to Borisoglebsk on October 9th. The first three Yak-130s have been delivered to Borisoglebsk on October 5th”, - Irkut noted.

The contract on delivery of 55 Yak-130s to the Russian air forces was signed on December 7th 2011 by Irkut Corporation and Russian Ministry of Defense. The jets must be delivered by 2015.

The next-generation Yak-130 combat trainer was developed by the Yakovlev Design Bureau (part of Irkut Corporation).  It was chosen as the basic trainer of Russian air forces for basic and advanced training of pilots. Yak-130 enables training of pilots at the most advanced level for Russian and foreign 4+ and 5-generation combat aircraft. The aircraft is the key part of training facility including integrated system of objective control, training computer classrooms, flight and special simulators.

The state testing of Yak-130 with armament has been completed in December 2009. The deliveries of jets to the Russian air forces have been started in February 2010.

Irkut Corporation has performed the contract on delivery of Yak-130 aircraft to a foreign customer in 2011.
