Transaero has transported more than 8.45 million passengers in 2011

Transaero has finalized the results of 2011. They are testifying the stable development of the airline during the year of its 20th anniversary and significant growth of its commercial indicators, the airline’s press-service reports. AEX.ru

Transaero has managed to demonstrate the best results in its history again. It has significantly strengthened its positions as Russia’s second largest carrier, which has the largest fleet of long-haul wide-body aircraft in Russia, CIS Region and Eastern Europe, the airline noted.

The passenger turnover of Transaero in 2011 was 33 179 926,54 thousand passenger-kilometers (+26.2% as compared to 2010). The number of transported passengers was 8 453 371 (+ 27,2%). 51 348,74 tons of cargo have been delivered during the period (+ 27,9%). The ton-kilometers was 3 280 060,11 thousand tons-kilometers (+ 26,1%).

«The company has been sustainably developing in 2011. This refers to domestic routes, international routes and direct international routes from different Russian cities, bypassing the Moscow Air Cluster. Transaero’ passenger traffic has increased as follows: domestic airlines – 30%, international airlines - 26,8%. Transaero’s route network includes more than 150 destinations. The airline has opened 45 new destinations. 22 of them have been opened from Moscow and St. Petersburg and 23 more – from eight other cities of Russia (Yekaterinburg, Kazan, Krasnoyarsk, Novosibirsk, Perm’, Rostov-on-Don, Samara, Ufa)», - the airline noted.

The popularity of premium class has increased in 2011. The number of passengers, who have made use of Imperial first class service, has increased by 93%. The number of business class passengers has increased by 40%.

The fleet of Transaero has been actively expanding and renewing by taking out of service the aircraft with maximum period of service life and by acquiring the new ones. The airline has acquired 17 aircraft in 2011: 2 Boeing-777-300s, 1 Boeing-777-200, 7 Boeing-747-400s, 7 Boeing-737s. The company has become the first operator of Boeing-777-300 aircraft in Russia, CIS Region and Eastern Europe, the carrier’s press-service noted.

Transaero have signed contracts on delivery of four the world’s largest Airbus А380 aircraft, four Boeing 747-8 Intercontinental jets, four Boeing 787 Dreamliners and eight Airbus A320neos in 2011, the airline reminded.
