Kazan-based Aerocon has signed a contract with one of the Russian security agencies on delivery of Rubezh-20 surveillance and reconnaissance UAVs, Vzglyad.ru reports with reference to the company’s Chief Designer on UAVs, Igor Petukhov.
«It is referred to delivery of 10 systems with two Rubezh-20 UAVs each», - said Petukhov.
He did not specify the agency, which has signed the contract, but noted that not only Russian security agencies, but also foreign customers are interested in acquiring Rubezh-20.
«The negotiations on possibility of delivering Rubezh-20 to one of the far-abroad countries are currently underway» - he said. He also noted that “all the Rubezh UAVs are equipped with automatic control system, developed by Aerocon». «In addition, the enterprise has developed a stabilization and payload management system», - Petukhov added.
It has been reported earlier that the factory tests of Rubezh-20 have been successfully completed in 2010 and the UAV’s serial production has been started.
Rubezh-20 UAV is the beam-scheme high-wing aircraft with T-type empennage. The UAV is equipped with internal combustion engine, which works on motor petrol AI-95. The weight of the UAV is 20 kg. The maximum payload is 7 kg. Cruise speed is 110 km/h. Its radius is 100 km. Maximum endurance is 8 hours. The UAV is launched using catapult and the landing is performed using parachute and inflatable shock absorber.
