Following the results of 12 months of 2011 Pulkovo has moved to the third place by passenger traffic among the Russian airports, the airport reports. AEX.ru

Northern Capital Gateway and its partner airlines have opened 14 additional destinations in 2011, 4 new carriers have moved to the airport and the number of flights on existing destinations has been increased. All these factors allowed reaching the passenger traffic of 9,6 million passengers (+13,8%).

The passenger traffic of Pulkovo airport in December 2011 was 687 311 passengers (+20,4% as compared to December 2010). The passenger traffic on international air lines to the far-abroad countries was 242 413 passengers in December 2011 (+17,2%).

The passenger traffic on domestic air lines was 369 111 passengers (+19,8%). The passenger traffic on routes inside CIS Region has increased by 36% (75 787 passengers).

Thus the number of takeoffs and landings in December 2011 was 9 341 (+13.5%). The scope of serviced maximum take-off mass was 304 047 tons (+13.9%).

Following the results of 12 months of 2011 the passenger traffic of Pulkovo airport was 9 610 767 passengers (+13,8% as compared to the same period of 2010). The passenger traffic on international air lines to the far-abroad countries was 4 117 683 passengers during this period (+12%).

The passenger traffic on domestic air lines was 4 482 430 passengers (+10,5%). The passenger traffic on routes inside CIS Region was 1 010 654 passengers (+42.5%).

The number of takeoff and landing operations has increased by 14.2% to 115 961 during the 12 months of 2011. The scope of maximum takeoff weight serviced was 3 790 278 tons (+12,3% as compared to the similar period of the last year).

«A slight decrease of passenger traffic on St. Petersburg – Moscow route has been recorded. It is connected with opening of new destinations at Pulkovo airport and brisk growth of rapid railway communication between the two capitals. The 1st of July has become the “peak day” - 43 667 passengers have been serviced. The maximum number of flights has been performed on June 17th – 538 ones», - the airport noted.
