The Penton Media publishing house and Air Transport World magazine have awarded Transaero with the prize in the Airline Market Leadership category of ATW Airline Industry Achievement Awards, the airline reports. AEX.ru

The jury has highly appreciated the sustainable growth of the Russia’s second largest airline, which helped it significantly increase its market share.

The jury has noted that Transaero has increased its passenger turnover 30 times and its passenger traffic - 15 times during the period from 2001 to 2011. Transaero’s rates of growth have significantly exceeded the national average ones last year.

The editor in chief of Air Transport World, Geoffrey Thomas, said: Transaero is the synonym of the word “first” at the Russian market: it was the first totally private airline in Russia; the first Russian carrier operating Boeing aircraft; the first Russian airline to offer business-class service on domestic airlines and implement the Frequent Flyer Program; the first one to sell the electronic tickets and implement the online and mobile check-in».

«Transaero was the first Russian airline to order Boeing 747-8, Airbus A380 and A320neo aircraft last year. Our collective is impressed by Transaero’s attitude to the operating activities aimed at reaching new milestones. Achievement Awards is the longest running and most respected airline industry awards event. The awards will be presented for the 38th time in 2012. The solemn ceremony will take place in Singapore in February 2012.
