Soyuz TMA-21 has successfully returned to Earth with the crew

The descent module of Soyuz TMA-21 spaceship has successfully landed in the predicted area 149 km away from the city of Dzhezkagan (Kazakhstan republic) today at 07:59:39 Moscow time, the press-service of Federal Space Agency (Roscosmos) reports. AEX.ru

The crew (call sign Tarkhani) has returned after a long-standing orbital mission. The members of the crew: Andrey Borisenko and Alexander Samokutyaev (Roscosmos), Ronald Garan (NASA), have been working on International Space Station since April 7th 2011. The crew’s orbital mission ISS-27/28 has lasted for 164 days.

During the longstanding 27th and 28th missions the crew has received two Russian cargo Progress ships, the manned Soyuz TMA-02M ship and two American space shuttles. Two spacewalks have been carried out – one by the Russian party and one by the American.

About 50 scientific experiments have been implemented at the Russian segment of ISS in different areas: Earth remote probing, geophysical, biotechnological and medical studies, educational programs, etc. Some of the programs’ results have been delivered to Earth.

The crew of 29th longstanding mission continues work on ISS. The crew includes: the commander, astronaut Michael Fossum (NASA), onboard engineers Sergey Volkov (Roscosmos) and Japan astronaut Satoshi Furukava.
