Russian aerial aerobatic team has won the gold medals at the world championship in Italy

The members of Sukhoi aerobatic team, who formed a part of Team Russia at the Aircraft sport world championship in Italy, have won the gold medals in the Unlimited class, the company reported. AEX.ru

Following the results of the competitions the Honored Master of Sports, Mikhail Mamistov, has become the all-round world champion. The Honored Master of Sports Svetlana Kapanina has won the first place among women.

Team Russia has performed on Su-26M3 sport aircraft and won the title of world champion in team competition.

57 experienced pilots from 14 countries have taken part in the championship. Among the participants are: France, USA, Spain, England, Germany, Australia, Czech Republic, etc. The competitions have been held in Perugia. The championship has been difficult since flights have been performed at high altitude in mountains and under the conditions of high ambient temperature.

The pilots, who have passed the selection at the XX Championship of Russia, have formed part of Team Russia. These are the Honorable Masters of Sport: Mikhail Mamistov, Oleg Shpolyansky, Svetlanan Kapanina, Elena Klimovich, Viktor Chmal’, Alexander Krotov; the International Masters of Sports: Andrey Bespalov and Anatoly Belov; Masters of Sport: Alexander Grevtsev and Anton Berkutov. The Honired Master of Sports, the Honored Coach, Viktor Solomin, has been the team leader.

Mikhail Mamistov, as the all-round world champion, has been ritually awarded the C cup trophy of Fédération Aéronautique Internationale (FAI) – the honorable Aresti cup. The prize has been established in 1960 by FAI in accordance with the proposal of honored president of FAI, the Spanish pilot, Hose Aresti. It is made of gold, silver, diamonds and encrusted with gold medals and emblems of national aero clubs. It is awarded at the aerial aerobatics championship to the pilot, who scored the most points during four exercises.
