The first flight of second Tu-204SM №64151 has taken place at Ulyanovsk-Vostochny airport on August 3rd , Tupolev design bureau’s press-service reports. It will speed up the process of certification tests currently carried out using the first jet with tail number №64150.AEX.ru
Tu-204SM is a new medium-haul passenger jet from Tu-204/Tu-214 family with enhanced aircraft performance and operating performance. The experience of previous jets’ operation has been taking into account during its development in full measure.
The new liner is being produced by Aviastar-SP in Ulyanovsk and has the following characteristics: maximum takeoff weight – 108 tons, passenger capacity – 215 seats, range with 215 passengers onboard - 4800 km and with 166 passengers onboard (two-class cabin configuration) - 6100 km.
Tu-204SM aircraft is a competitive counterpart of the existing foreign jets; it meets Russian and international flight safety requirements, including newly introduced ICAO and Eurocontrol requirements; it has a state-of-the-art post-sales support system; it meets the requirements of JAR-25, harmonized with EASA’s requirements on flight safety.
The aircraft’s design service life is 60 000 hours/ 45 000 flights/ 25 years.
The deliveries should start in 2012.
The duration of flight was 52 minutes. The honored test-pilot of Russia Zhuravlev I.V. was the pilot-in-command and the Tupolev chief pilot, the honored test-pilot Minashkin V.A. was the second pilot. The flight was successful. According to the crew’s information all the jet’s air borne systems have been working in a regular operation mode without any failures. The aircraft stability and sensitivity received a good rating.
