UMPO will become the pilot factory of UEC in production of engines for combat aircraft

Ufa Engine Industrial Association has been chosen as the pilot factory of United Engine Corporation’s division called “Engines for combat aircraft”, the enterprise reports. AEX.ru

«I have signed orders on creation of two new structural divisions of UEC – division of front-line aviation engines and helicopter engines, – said CEO of Oboronprom and UEC, Andrey Reus, during MAKS-2011. – We are creating separate divisions in order to increase the efficiency of cooperation with our customers. These areas are among the main ones in the UEC’s development strategy».

The division will unite the scientific and production potential of Chernyshev, Motor, Salut and will be responsible for development of country’s combat aviation. UMPO will manage the branch of NPO Saturn – Research and Development Center named after A. Lyulka and Lytkarino plant. It is planned that a single design service will be formed inside the UEC’s new structure.

The main programs of the division will be AL-31F, AL-31FP, AL-55I, 117S, etc. One of the main areas of work is the engine for Prospective Airborne Complex of Frontline Aviation (PAK FA).
