The document has been signed by CEO of Transaero, Olga Pleshakova and Airbus Executive vice-president, Europe, Asia and Pacific Region, Christopher Buckley, on the eve of MAKS-2011 opening.
Thus, Transaero has become the launch customer of Airbus A320neo in Russia, CIS Region and Eastern Europe. Transaero is acquiring these aircraft within the framework of its development program, expansion and renewal of its fleet. A320neo aircraft will be operated on medium0haul destinations.
Olga Pleshakova said: «It is very important for us that Transaero has become the launch customer of Airbus А320 neo in Russia, CIS Region and Eastern Europe. The operation of these state-of-the-art, fuel-efficient and comfortable aircraft will help create the ideal conditions for passenger transportation on domestic and international routes. And the main thing is that this agreement will contribute to the further development of Russian civil aviation».
«We are sure that there is a market for A320neos in Russia. We are glad that Transaero has chosen our efficient aircraft for the purposes of its medium-haul fleet. We congratulate Transaero on becoming the launch customer of A320neo in such a vast region», - said Christopher Buckley.
А320neo incorporates latest generation engines and large "Sharklet" wing tip devices, which together will deliver 15 percent in fuel savings. This reduction in fuel burn is equivalent to 1.4 million litres of fuel – the consumption of 1,000 mid size cars. This saves 3,600 tonnes of C02 per aircraft per year, the amount of C02 absorbed by 240,000 mature trees. The A320neo NOx emissions are 50% below CAEP/6 and this aircraft also has considerably a smaller noise footprint.
