Boeing estimates the value of Russia and CIS Region civil aircraft market at $110 billion

According to Boeing’s forecasts, 1080 new aircraft with a total value of $110 billion (+$20 billion as compared to the earlier forecasts) will be delivered to the airlines of Russia and CIS Region in the nearest 20 years, said the vice-president of Boeing Commercial Airplanes, Marketing, Randy Teenset. AEX.ru

The acquisition of new aircraft in the region is imposed by the necessity of replacement of ageing single-aisle and regional jets by the next-generation models with the high level of fuel-efficiency.

«The demand for the aircraft will be stimulated by the increase of passenger traffic on international and domestic destinations of Russia and CIS Region, -  said Randy Teenset, who presented the review of aviation market in Russia and CIS Region for 2011 on the part of Boeing today in Moscow. - According to our estimates, the average growth of passenger traffic in the region will be 4,3% per year».

Teenset has also noted that the growing passenger traffic from touristic and business segments on destinations of Russia and CIS Region will be the prerequisite for stable demand for transcontinental and interregional transportation. In accordance with these tendencies, more than 60% of future deliveries will be connected with single-aisle jets in the nearest 20 years.

Taking into account the paces of ageing vehicles retirement, the fleet of region’s airlines will increase from 1140 to 1400 aircraft by 2030.

According to Boeing’s forecast, the single-aisle aircraft’s share in the airlines’ fleet will increase from 55% to 66%. The airlines will have to pay a lot of attention to their fleet’s age, since the old aircraft are consuming a large amount of fuel and becoming a heavy burden on their balance. The increasing attention of community and authorities to the impact of aircraft on the environment will be one of the most significant factors for the airlines while choosing the aircraft with lower carbon emission.

The growth rates of wide-bodies fleet will be defined by expansion of non-stop international destinations, increase of frequencies and introduction of new destinations in the airlines’ route network. The wide-bodies of small and medium size will form 18% of airlines in the CIS Region by 2030. According to Boeing’s forecast, the demand for new effective wide-bodies such as 787 Dreamliner on this market will be 200 aircraft.

Large jets such as 747 will not be popular in CIS Region. Their share will be only 4% of the total scope of deliveries in the next 20 years. The region’s airlines will acquire about 40 large aircraft during this period.

The demand for regional jets in the CIS Region will be 160 ones, according to Boeing. These jets will be used for meeting the growing requirements for air transportation at small provincial market of the region and for the old aircraft replacement.
