Vnukovo will spend around 8.5 billion rubles on reconstruction by 2015, Finam reports.
In particular, 2.3 billion will be used for construction of new passenger terminal. 174 thousand square meters of the terminal have been put into operation in July 2011, and it is planned to open the second extension with an area of 100 thousand square meters next year. It has been reported by the First Deputy Director General of Vnukovo Airport, Vitaly Vantsev.
According to him, private investments will be used for modernization of production and technical zone, and the airports funds – for airways terminal and airfield service.
The airport has started operation of the second runway using its full length of 3060 meters since 6.00 Moscow time on July 1st. The repair of runway has been started in April, thus some of the flights have been temporarily transferred to Sheremetyevo international airport. "The airport is starting the reconstruction of first runway, its surface’s wear ratio is 80%", -said CEO of Vnukovo Airport, Vasiliy Aleksandrov.

According to him, the runway does not meet the safety requirements while servicing the modern aircraft types. In accordance with instruction of Minister of Transport, Igor Levitin, the reconstruction of the runway must be completed in 2012.
