A copy of monument to Yuri Gagarin will be installed in London

A copy of monument to Gagarin will be installed in London to commemorate the 50thanniversary of human space flight. The sculpture will be installed in London for one year, Gazeta.ru reports with reference to Sky News.

 
«Gagarin belongs not only to Russia but also to all the countries and all the people. It is important for us to show the statue in London », –Sky News cites the deputy chairman of Roscosmos, Vitaly Davidov.
 
According to TV-channel, the copy of the monument situated in Lyubertsi, will be erected in London. The original is made by Anatoly Novikov to commemorate the 50th birthday of Yuri Gagarin.
 
«I believe that it is very important for us to join our efforts – intellectual, cultural, logistic and practical – to create the better planet for next generations », – Davidov said.
 
He also added that Russia and UK have lots in common. The countries were allies during the Second World War and won it at the cost of big losses, Davidov noted. In addition Russian and British people are the nations “which always were willing to explore something new and unknown and Gagarin symbolizes these efforts», the deputy chairman of Roscosmos has explained.
 
The sculpture of the first astronaut has been presented to the capital of Great Britain by Roscosmos.
 
It is planned that Gagarin will be placed near English traveller and discoverer, captain James Cook.
