The agreement assumes the strengthening of cooperation between EADS and Skolkovo, which has been declared in March 2011, and also development of EADS Research center’s construction plan, which is planned to be put into operation in the second half of this year.

 

EADS will build a research center in Skolkovo in the network of its participation in this project. Russian companies will be taking part in work of this center and will develop solutions for industry’s technical problems in cooperation with EADS Airbus, Eurocopter, Cassidian and Astrium. The parties will develop communication systems, UAVs, modern engines and projects for efficient use of energy. EADS will also attract students and scientists from Skolkovo. 

 

The head of EADS Louis Gallois, said: «Our cooperation with Skolkovo is developing. Innovations are transnational asset today and we are confident that Russia will make its contribution to development of our technical capabilities».

 

Viktor Vekselberg, president of Skolkovo fund said: «We are pleased that one of the world’s leading corporations becomes the partner of Skolkovo. This agreement means that in case of success one of our joint projects (concept of advanced engine) will reach the commercialization phase. We continue our cooperation with EADS in other areas. We hope to finalize the participation of EADS in the activities of Skolkovo Technological University and also in organization of joint educational programs, lectures, seminars and practical studies for students of Skolkovo University at EADS’ research and development centers».

 

EADS Research center will become a part of Russian Technology Department (designated as RTO), created in 2003 within the structure of EADS Innovation Works for the purpose of development of cooperation with Russian scientific community. More than 100 joint projects in the area of technological development and development work with participation of Russian enterprises have been implemented since the formation of RTO.

 

EADS Innovation Works is a corporate division of EADS, managing the network of its own research and development centers aimed at development of concern’s technological and innovative potential. The centers are mostly carrying out long-term studies. The main enterprises of EADS Innovation Works are located in Munich and Paris. More than 700 employees are working in the division including research scientists and trainees. Additional centers are opened in Getafe (Spain), Newport (UK), Toulouse and Nantes (France) and Hamburg (Germany) for the purposes of fast transfer of new knowledge and technologies to the production enterprises in the respective regions. In addition, EADS Innovation Works manages the research abd development centers in Moscow, Singapore and Bangalore (India).
