The Prime Minister’s press-secretary of the Government of Russia, Dmitry Peskov has explained the reasons for cancellation of IPO by Domodedovo airport sending a letter to New York Times’ desk in response to publication of Joe Nosera, journalist of New York Times. Forbes informs of this fact.
Nosera has published an article called “How to steal an airport in Russia” in NYT, where he wrote about the cost of business dealing in Russia. According to him, the decision to cancel IPO taken by the owner of Domodedovo perfectly demonstrates that there may be no modern economy in Russia without supremacy of law. The author have made a guess that the cancellation of IPO by Domodedovo airport was not connected with economic situation on the market, while the actual reasons of this decision has not been unveiled.
«I disagree with Mr.Nosera’s article, - the Prime Minister’s press-secretary stated in the letter. – The tendencies at world stock market show that the situation at the market is very complicated and Moscow Domodedovo airport is not the only company to postpone its IPO this year ».
According to Peskov, Domodedovo – is the airport of world level and the government is reasonably concerned about the transparency of its functionality. In particular, the company has refused to unveil the name of its actual owner until it has declared the plan of carrying out IPO.
Domodedovo has cancelled IPO at London stock market at the end of May. The company’s shareholder has decided that the IPO cannot be carried out at the price level reflecting the company’s valid estimate taking into account the current market conditions.
