Ulan-Ude Aviation Plant, forming part of Russian Helicopters holding, has delivered another batch of Mi-8AMTSh helicopters to the Russian Ministry of defense. As reported earlier, the plant has delivered the first batch of helicopters to the Ministry of defense in December 2010. AEX.ru
The new delivery has been performed in the network of State defense order 2011 implementation. All the helicopters have been accepted by customer’s representatives in Ulan-Ude in the middle of May. After that the preparation of the vehicles for ferry flights to the air forces’ military units has been started. The helicopters have taken off from the territory of Ulan-Ude Aviation plant in the end of May. The new vehicles have covered more than 5000 km during ferry flight.
Mi-8AMTSh has been passed into service in 2009. The delivered in 2009 and 2010 helicopters have been highly appreciated by the military units. Taking this appreciation into account, the Ministry of defense has placed another State defense order on these helicopters in 2011. According to the helicopters’ operators, Mi-8AMTSh has high aircraft performance, reliability and ease of operation; it is capable of solving a high range of problems, it may be used in different climate zones, light and meteorological conditions. This vehicle exceeds characteristics of conventional Mi-8s and allows the air forces to increase warfare efficiency.
The delivery of Mi-8AMTShs within the framework of State defense order 2011 will be continued in the second half of 2011. The Ministry of Defense is evaluating the possibility of placing a long-term State defense order for Mi-8AMTShs at the moment.
