Russian air forces will acquire An-70s in 2012-2013

Russian air forces will acquire military-transport An-70 aircraft produced by Russian and Ukraine in 2012-2013, RIA Novosti reports. The Deputy Commander in Chief of the Russian air forces, Sergey Bondarev, has declared this fact.

"The factory testing of the aircraft is currently underway and the operational service tests should be started next year ", - he said.

If the state commission confirms that the aircraft meets the requirements of all the standards, than the decision on its acquisition will be taken, he said. "This would happen in 2012-2013 ", - the general noted. The number of vehicles to be acquired has not been specified.

Russian Minister of Defense, Anatoly Serdukov has stated during his visit to Kiev in April that the Ministry plans to start the acquisition of An-70s and modernized heavy transport An-124-100 "Ruslan" aircraft in 2015-2016.
