The first Deputy Chairman of the government of Russian Federation Igor Shuvalov has solemnly opened the reconstructed runway N1 at Vladivostok’s airport, Primorski Krai administration’s press-service reports. The runway has been reconstructed in the framework of preparation for APEC-2012 summit. The first vice-Premier has arrived to Vladivostok earlier with a working trip. AEX.ru
Igor Shuvalov in cooperation with Minister of Transport Igor Levitin, head of Ministry of Regional Development, Viktor Basargin and governor of Primorski Krai, Sergey Darkin, have cut the neckband and after that the runway has been officially put into operation.
We remind you, that the runway has already been functioning in the test technical mode for a month. Right after the ceremony Vladivostok Avia airline’s jet has arrived from Beijing and landed at the runway. Few minutes later another airline’s jet has departed to St. Petersburg.
Runway N1 – is the fourth transferred APEC project. The work on its reconstruction has been started in May 2009. Its length has been increased to 3.5 km and its surface has been reconstructed. These modifications will allow “Vladivostok” airport to service most of the modern aircrafts within 24 hours. The airport’s capacity will increase to 5 million passengers a year. As governor of Primorski Krai admits, this will make Vladivostok airport one of the largest modern airports.
