According to VPK, Russia has delivered three Mi-171Sh combat-transport helicopters to the Peruvian air forces.

Peruvian Minister of Defense has declared this fact. «Peruvian military intend to use these helicopters for strengthening of internal security, fighting drug mafia and extremist organizations, – specified the head of Defense department. – These helicopters are suitable for operations in the water gaps of Apurimac and Ene rivers which are the main hide-outs of the drug-sellers and members of “Sendero Luminoso” extremist organization.

The contract on delivery of six Mi-171Shs and two combat-transport Mi-35Ps has been signed by Peruvian Ministry of Defense and Rosoboronexport in July 2010. «The delivery of all helicopters will be completed by the end of this year, – said Torne. – Two Mi-35Ps have been delivered to Armando Revoredo Iglesias air base by An-124-100 Ruslan in early April 2011, the assembly and testing of these helicopters have already been started. The helicopters are furnished with all the necessary equipment for transportation of soldiers, vehicles, providing medical aid and warfighting. We plan to keep strengthening the potential of our air forces ».
