President of Russia, Dmitriy Medvedev, has signed a legislation about creation of airline passenger databases

“Russian Newspaper” has published a Federal law of Russian Federation from April 5th 2011 number 50-FZ "About making alterations in article number 85 of the Air Code of Russian Federation", signed by the president of Russia, Dmitriy Medvedev. AEX.ru

In accordance with the amendments to the article 85 of the Air Code of Russian Federation for the purpose of providing flight safety, the airlines should secure the transfer of passengers’ personal records to the automated databases in accordance with Russian Federation law regarding transportation security and Russian Federation law regarding personal data»,- said in the document.

«While carrying out international transportation, the data should be also transferred to foreign countries’ authorities in accordance with Russia’s international agreements or foreign counties’ legislations if other is not specified by the international agreements of Russian Federation », - specified in the law.

The law has been passed by the State Duma on March 25th 2011 and approved by the Federation Council on March 30 2011.
